My Listening
I think most people would love to have a promotion. Would you like to have one?
This morning Michelle and I joined Toronto Emmanuel Church's 9am Time with Abba and Rev. Edmund Ho gave us an inspiration about today's Psalm. He said, "I see God was giving the Israelites a promotion. First stage in Psalm 136:11 "Israel". Second stage in verse 16 "his people". Third stage in verse 21 "Gave their land as an inheritance". Fourth stage in verse 22 "his servant Israel".

After Rev. Edmund shared his catch with all the brothers and sisters, I got a message from the Lord. The promotion God gave to the Israelites and to us is actually an invitation of having a closer and closer relationship.
This is actually a promotion of RELATIONSHIP!
A relationship from the Israel who rejected God their Good Shepherd as described by Paul and Barnabas as in today's Acts 13: 46 to their repentance and return to become God's people again, to their receiving the land as in God's promise, to be willing as God's servants, truly under God's command, truly living out listen and obey!
You can see in today's 2 Kings passage how Elisha was being promoted to a new level to succeed his master Elijah's gifts and power. That's the distance that I want to talk about. It's a distance which Elisha said, "I will not leave you." It's a distance which Elijah said, "yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours - otherwise, it will not." See how close the distance Elisha was with Elijah and what a faithful servant Elisha was to receive that promotion!
